Relationship Counseling
Relationships are essential building blocks of a happy, healthy and successful life. Finding and keeping positive, supportive and loving relationships is an important part of feeling good. Ethos offers relationship counseling services to deal with current issues and past problems with family, friends and at work so you can create joy and peace in the future. Our therapists are here to help you find your voice, say what is on your mind and feel what is in your heart when you bring issues to individual, couples and family sessions.
Addictions and Recovery Counseling
Addictions kill, meaning that addictions destroy life in every possible way: physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, relationally, and vocationally. At Ethos, we treat addictions using a disease model, meaning that we consider addiction- especially substance abuse- to be a disease which dramatically affects brain chemistry and functioning. Whether your addiction involves alcohol, drugs, pornography, video games, internet, gambling, food, codependent relationships, a combination of these or others, we work with addictions at any age and stage.
Schools and Education Advocacy
Is your child struggling in school because of emotional, behavioral, or psychological health issues? If there is something going on at home- whether it is divorce or a death in the family, or other troubles- it will most likely affect your child at school. If your child is facing problems like bullying, emotional or social sensitivities, or test anxiety, these also may affect social and emotional functioning at school.
Career and Work Counseling
Are you are stressed about a crisis in your work life, managing an anxious child through college or transitioning to retirement? Work is the setting for many major transitions and provides meaning, accomplishment, and structure in life. Most people spend a major portion of their time in some form of work and it is common to experience challenges with fulfillment, peace or balance in work and family. You can rely on experienced Ethos staff to help manage career choices and work adjustment issues throughout life.
Psychological Evaluation and Testing
Have you ever gone to the doctor, and after discussing your physical symptoms, been directed to get a blood test or an X-ray to find out the cause of those symptoms? Your doctor probably used the results of those tests to create a treatment plan for you. For a therapist, psychological testing and evaluation serves the same purpose. They will consult a psychologist who is skilled in testing if they feel that they need further evaluation to diagnose and treat a client. The psychologist will work collaboratively with your therapist to customize a treatment plan that is unique to your experience and your test results.
Christian Faith and Spiritual Counseling
We are deeply committed to caring for your spirit, as well as your mind and body, to strive for a more holistic approach in counseling. If religion or spirituality is an important part of your life, we believe that it can be highly beneficial to integrate your faith into your healing journey. Counseling frequently involves learning how to build or strengthen your support systems. Leaning into positive relationships and faith in community can provide a stronger foundation for whatever you are facing.
Psychological Tools and Training
Often a large part of therapy is educational, meaning that we share information which will help you better understand and make sense of the struggles you are facing. Because we believe that you are the primary actor in the therapy process, we will to empower you with skills, strategies, and tools to create psychological well-being in yourself and in relationships with others. Getting started on needed changes in your life may mean learning how first and then putting in effort to put your learning into practice.
Support Groups
Knowing that you are not alone in your struggles can be extremely powerful and reassuring, whether related to addiction, depression, grief, trauma, parenting, or anything else. Group counseling can help you feel less isolated as you experience your own healing process and witness others who are at different stages of their journey. This can bring hope as well as motivation to move forward within a network of support so crucial to overcoming emotional, behavioral, a*2nd psychological challenges.
