Paul specializes in addictions, mood-disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, relationship counseling, and spiritual counseling. His basic belief in the dynamic of counseling: internal healing through the ongoing process of self-discovery. Many people carry within them traumatic events from their past that may have taught them the world is unsafe, and that people cannot be trusted. As a result, they are often hindered by self-isolation, depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem.

Yet therapeutic healing begins when we ourselves choose to be well and take the first step, which is often a very scary thing to do! As human beings, we must have the courage to face our limitations and failures so that we might learn and grow through them. Clients who do this are able to heal in deeper ways that they would have never thought imaginable. There is NO shame in asking for help in counseling, especially when life’s problems and challenges become more than one can handle on their own. Therapy gives us the opportunity to become more deeply self-aware, especially in terms of how our reasoning affects our feelings, choices, attitudes, and behaviors. “Our thoughts determine our lives.”

Good therapy is all about the mystery of how we move from brokenness to well-ness, and how we can share this with others. His Motto Is: “Surviving or Thriving: the choice is ours.”

Paul has been in the counseling profession for over 32 years. He has a degree in Professional Counseling & Addiction Studies from the University of Detroit-Mercy, and a Masters of Divinity degree from St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in Crestwood, NY.  He is fluent in Greek, Serbian, and Russian.
